From the 9th to the 25th of September 2011 the 48th Wine Fair will be celebrated in Binissalem, Majorca.
Binissalem is at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountain, a UNESCO heritatge site, and the region gives its name to one of Majorca's Wine Denomination of Origin. The town was declared a Historical Artistic Monument in 1983.
This year the 7th sweet fair is being organised in Esporles, where you'll be able to enjoy the best sweets, deserts and chocolates made by both professional and amateur chefs in Majorca.
During the fair, there are also handicraft stalls, popular dancing, a cocktail exhibition and some other activities such street exhibitions. Last year around 10.000 people visited the fair.
Easter in Majorca is a customary religious celebration. The liturgical events begin on Palm Sunday, along with the 'Procession of the Entrance of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem' and the blessing of the Palms or Olive-Tree branches.
Mona de Pascua are figurines and sculptures made of chocolate. They can be in the shape of a rabbit, an egg, a cartoon character, etc.
Many bakeries compete to display the most spectacular chocolate sculptures in their windows. They could be a building, a popular character or a representation of anything!
